Every time we go to Colorado I’m reminded just how much I miss grass, yes, grass. I love you grass.

About Bonnie Mitchell Photogrpahy
Thank you for stopping by my studio journal. It means the world to me that you have taken a few moments out of your day to poke around. This journal is where I put all my ideas, thoughts, behind the scenes and of course loads of pictures. Dont forget you can check out my main website at www.bonniemitchell.com Love ya! Bonnie
I was going through some pics from our trip to Cali in Feb and thought I would post a few from our visit to Calico Ghost Town. I didn’t take any pictures this last trip at the beginning of the month. I guess dealing with the passing of my grandmother I lacked inspiration. It’s tough losing people we love and we start to have thoughts like “if I only called more”. After saying goodbye to my grandmother I vowed to never have “life” and “trivial differences” come before my relationships with family and friends. Is there really anything more important than the ones we have in our lives? I don’t think so. So love, live and enjoy every second of everyday God has blessed us with because life is short. Love ya.
I absolutely love when Ovation channel has a full day of photography programs. When they do, it’s bad, I’m literally glued to the t.v. soaking it all in, which means nothing gets done. I had one of these days yesterday. BBC did a little 6 part series called Genius of Photography. The series starts in the early 1800’s with the discovery that silver salts get darker when exposed to light, all the way to today. It is so fascinating to see how important photography has been in the making of our history of the past two hundred years. Did you know that painters even changed the compositions of their paintings due to photography. You can actually see a difference in the compositions with parts of people being cut out of the painting or the posing of people being much more natural.
So anyways, if you ever see these programs on I suggest checking them out. One of my favorite quotes from the series was this “I would trade all the paintings of Christ for just one snap shot”. Could you imagine if we actually had a photograph of Christ. The idea of that really makes the importance of photography that much more real to me.
Here’s a few updates. I will be posting hopefully three more photo shoots by the end of next week, fingers crossed. My website is also undergoing a face-lift and should be ready to be revealed by the end of next week as well. The new site is going to rock, watch out now.
Oh, and here’s an awesome shot of Justin and I at Calico Ghost Town last month. Justin loves it when I may him take photos like this as you can see by his face, ha. Thanks Dad for the photo!
Justin and I took a little trip up to Chimayo today. I promised a loved one that I would get some Holy Sand and I’m happy to say mission accomplished. I don’t think I could of picked a better winter day to go, the lighting was incredible. We got rained on a few times but in between the rains the sun would peek through and just light up the place like you wouldn’t believe. Truly photographer heaven. If you haven’t been to this little gem hidden away here in NM I suggest you stop. There is so much to see in this tiny space.
I have totally been neglecting my blog, sorry blog. Which for me that’s a good thing because it means I have been really busy but I’m going to try to spend a little time each day to dedicate to my blog and the redesign of my website. My website is looking a little sad so I think I need to cheer it up with a little bit of Rock N’ Roll added to it. I went ahead and added a sneak peek to the blog for the meantime. I will have several shoots that will be added to the blog hopefully by the end of this week so be on the look out.
I wasn’t going to post anything for a few more days. I have been trying to organize all my photos from Cali so I can post some and that is going to for sure take a few days. Anyways, this is just to cool at least for me to wait. So without further ado I would like to introduce my newest camera family member……wait for it….
The Holga…my new little plastic camera. I just want to make squeaky noises it’s so cute. I think this will be a fun addition to what I offer my clients. I will hopefully have some pictures from this little guy to post in about a week.
David Lynch was kind enough to invite me along on his photo class today. We took a little trip up to Santa Fe. It turned out to be a nice relaxing day with good company and awesome scenery, just what I needed after a tough week in Cali dealing with a family emergency.
I found this video on rebithworkshops.com and all I can say it is so inspiring and spoke to me on some many different levels. You have to watch it.
